Explore the Aroma and Composition of Pimento Berry, Black Pepper and Ravensara Essential Oils!

Pimento Berry and Black Peppers share similarities in terms of taste, aroma, and appearance. However, they are native to different regions and obtained from diverse plants. The essential oil derived from the pimento or allspice berries by steam distillation also has hints of black pepper. The industrial flavor users also employ these oils as substitutes for each other, however, black pepper oil is spicier.

Pimenta plants are cultivated in Latin America. They bear fruits containing berries that are harvested for oil derivation. The pimento berry essential oil is a thin yellow or reddish yellow oil with a spicy odor resembling the odors of nutmeg, cinnamon, black pepper, or clove. It contains eugenol, 1,8 - cineole, caryophyllene, methyl eugenol, and gamma cadinene compounds. Its high eugenol content makes it an antiviral and anti-inflammatory substance. Therefore, it is effective for arthritis, stiffness, indigestion, nausea, neuralgia, muscular cramps, cough, and sore throat.

Pimento oil is also known as a Caribbean treasure. Its spicy rich aroma with middle notes best suits the masculine blends of perfumes or colognes. However, its moderate and conscious use is recommended by pimento berry essential oil manufacturers.

A clear thin essential oil is derived from the black peppers. It emits a crisp, fresh and peppery fragrance with middle notes. Its major constituents are limonene, pinene, beta-caryophyllene (as in allspice oil), camphene, sabinene, linalool, and phellandrene. The aroma of black pepper oil enhances alertness and stamina. It helps treat aching muscles, muscle cramps, poor digestion and circulation, constipation, and arthritis.

Another essential oil useful for multiple health conditions is ravensara essential oil. It is a pale yellow clear oil derived from the leaves of ravensara and it has a sweet, medicinal, eucalyptus-like, and fruity odor. It contains limonene, sabinene, linalool, and b-caryophyllene compounds as found in black pepper essential oil. However, its eucalyptus-like aroma comes from estragole compounds in it. The oil is useful for influenza, bronchitis, cold sores, colds, joint and body aches, and shingles.

All of these oils are effective for body aches as they promote blood circulation. They are diluted with clove oil and sesame oil for massage on the affected area. A blend of these oils along with a carrier oil also works wonderfully for sore body parts. Alternatively, any of these three oils can be mixed in a massage or vapor rub. Ravensara oil is more suitable for diffusion for fragrance and repelling mosquitoes. However, topical application of black pepper dilution prevents mosquito bites.

The spice oils such as pimento berry essential oil and black pepper essential oils are used to flavor marinades, non-veg items, soups, cakes, beverages, and sauces. They are added to dental products for supporting oral health. They are used as components in medicinal formulations. The diuretic properties of black pepper oil increase urination and flush out toxins from the body. Its intake induces fat cell breakdown and helps reduce weight. The black pepper oil manufacturers concentrated in India meet most of the global industrial demand for oil. While ravensara oil prevents and treats viral infections related to respiratory, and digestive systems besides dermal infection.
